Monticello Crowned Conference Champions

On Tuesday, October 11th, the Monticello Ponies varsity volleyball team hosted Black Hawk and won it in three, 25-12, 25-7, 25-13.
"The Grant sisters combined for the first 18 points of the 2nd game. With the help of some aggressive front row play, the Ponies got out to an 18-3 lead before finishing it 25-7," said Coach Rebecca Gustafson. "Black Hawk came out strong in the 3rd set, 11-11, before the Ponies pulled away and won 15-13."
Kelsy Grant had 4 aces on 21 attempts at 100% - no missed serves, along with 15 assists. Macy Grant had 3 aces and 11 digs along with 100% serve attempts. Ellie Gustafson had 18 kills, 10 digs and 3 aces.
With this win, and their undefeated conference record of 11-0, the Ponies were crowned Six Rivers East Conference Champions.
The Ponies are seeded #1 for the WIAA Division 4 Regionals and hosted #16 Chesterton Academy of Milwaukee on October 18th. The winner goes on to play on Thursday, October 20th, against the winner of the #9 Albany vs #8 Faith Christian game. All Regional and Sectional games will be played at 7:00 p.m.
