Belleville's boys basketball players are building on their accomplishments from last year and heading into regional play stronger than ever. The boys seasonal record from 2021-22 was 20-5 and 9-1 in the conference. This year, the boys basketball varsity team is at 18-6 on the season record and 10-0 in the conference.

Comparing the stats, Belleville's Athletic Director Wayne Fell emphasizes, "We are playing better team basketball this year due to playing tougher competition!"

This year, the varsity players stepped up by playing higher division teams playing schools like Monroe and Waukesha Catholic Memorial, which has been a good challenge. This is a team that boasts a lot of experience, so it's great to have an opportunity to see how hard they can play. This year's seniors have been sharing the basketball court together for a long time, and this is their chance this season to show off their teamwork and truly shine. They are excited to host their first regional game, which is set for Friday, March 3, 2023, in Belleville, and play some great ball. If they end up facing off against Poynette, it could get interesting since the team only lost by 1-point in the regular season in non-conference play. Varsity player DeMarcus Conner says, "We are definitely excited and ready to get revenge for our loss in the regular season."

As the team heads into Regionals, they have some great players and team camaraderie to lean on. They are seeded 3rd in Division 4/Sectional 3. Andrew Ace is the leading scorer for Belleville's varsity team with a 12.3 PPG average this season, followed by DeMarcus Conner scoring 11.9 PPG this season. The team's top rebounder is Nathan Meier boasting an 8.9 RPG average, while the team also credits DeMarcus Conner again as the leader in assists with a 4.3 APG. Together, these young men are prepared for a great competitive playoff push!

Strong players make for a confident team and offer the opportunity to rally up and play their best as the court action, competitions, and desire to win become exponentially higher at this point in the season. Knowing this team is about to graduate some very talented senior players makes for a concerted group effort for the whole team, and the synergy is there to play to win. Belleville has been working hard all season to hone their skills and build a team that can pull out all the stops and fight for every opportunity to push forward and be recognized as a team that knows their own strengths. There is something to be said for all the accumulated practice that shows up when you have a strong set of seniors leading a team going into regionals because this is their moment. They have been playing all these years to make memories that will last a lifetime. In the end, just getting to share the court with a group of young men who all have the same goal is something to be celebrated and the Wildcats look forward to finishing their season strong for their seniors and for the sake of the team and their coaches.
