Sugar River Soccer On Their Way to State!

The Sugar River Soccer team will compete in State Tournament at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. After winning Sectionals the team was honored by Belleville Fire Department and New Glarus Fire Department. Fans came out to show the team their support.
On a warm, clear night, the Sugar River Soccer team faced Mount Horeb at home for the Sectional Semifinal game on June 7th. With the 3-2 win, the team became Sectional Champions.
Less than 8 minutes into the game, Kalin O'Rourke, assisted by Eve Palmer, scored the first goal of the game. At 31:20, O'Rourke scored goal number two for Sugar River.
In the second half, Sydney Gentilli, assisted by Morgan Hustad, scored the third goal for the team. Mount Horeb scored two goals within ten minutes, but Sugar River held on to win the game and advance to the Sectional Final game against top-seeded Madison Edgewood in Mount Horeb on June 9th.
In the game against Edgewood, Sugar River's lone goal was scored by senior Samantha Trainor, late in the game after a 0-0 halftime tie.

The team is now Sectional Champions, and are headed to play at the state tournament on Friday, June 15th. In the final Division 3 final game, #3 seed Sugar River will take on #2 Green Bay Notre Dame, who has a 15-5-1 record. The winner will play for the winner of the #1 Waukesha Catholic Memorial and #4 Rice Lake game in the Division 3 championship on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Both games take place at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
The Belleville School District will be sponsoring a Student Fan Bus to the Girls State Soccer Game on Friday, June 15th. The cost is only $10.00 (this includes the $8.00 game ticket, plus transportation to and from the game). The bus will leave the Belleville High School West parking lot at 4:45 p.m., and return between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. Students interested in riding the bus should contact their school. The $10.00 fee to ride can be dropped off in the Belleville or New Glarus High School offices. A minimum of 15 students is needed for the spectator bus to go.
