With three meets under their belts, the Belleville Cross Country teams are off to a great start. Thus far they have raced in Monroe, Darlington and River Valley.

The girls team this year is as great in numbers as it is in talent. The team is led by senior Noelle Maire, who is continuing to improve and is looking toward another state bid. We are also seeing strong races and leadership from our other seniors, Britney Markhardt, Rachel Uebelacker and Clarice Loeffelholz.

Junior Maya Severson has been joined by two newcomers, Eve Palmer and Kalin O'Rourke, who have already showed gains. Sophomores this year are Michelle Ayala, Alexis Walker, Rachel Markhardt, Mili Julian and Hayley Vandeberg. Our freshmen have been a big surprise with strong races, Heidi Wegehaupt, Angelina Parisot, Emma Veeneman and Gianna Diaz are a great addition to our team.

The boys team is led by returning letter winner and sophomore, Caden O'Rourke. Our seniors, Jordan Hosler and Aiden Pottratz, have been running strong races as well thus far. Rounding out the rest of the boys team is junior Evan Reifert, sophomores Gary Salmela, Joshua Bowers and Derek Shrader, and our freshmen, Julian Fullbright, Sean Campbell, Brandon Graves and Alan Woller.

The boys team has been working hard and are up for the challenge at every race.

This Saturday is the Wildcat Invite, which includes senior and parent recognition! The following Tuesday Belleville will also host the first annual Capitol Challenge. We will also have a Youth Night following both races for all 4-6th grade students who have registered for the Intermediate School Running Club. Come and cheer us on!!!
