Wildcats Win Big Last Friday

The Belleville Wildcats varsity football team hosted Southwestern/East Dubuque on Friday, September 9th. Leading 26-0 at the half, the Wildcats cruised to a 41-8 win over the visitors.

The Wildcats got on the scoreboard first, with a TD on a pass from Aidan Keyes to Davis Richter for a 52-yard gain. Kaden DeSmet's extra point was good. The Wildcats then went on to score four times in the second quarter. The first TD was a pass from Keyes to DeMarcus Conner for a 60-yard gain, with the extra point by DeSmet. Keyes and Conner teamed up again two minutes later for a score with DeSmet's extra point being successful. Conner scored yet again on a punt return for 55 yards and DeSmet missed the extra point. With less than 2 minutes left in the first half, Keyes hit DeSmet for 6. DeSmet's extra point attempt was unsuccessful.

In the third quarter, Logan Derke scored a safety and shortly thereafter, DeMarcus Conner caught a pass from Keyes to score a touchdown. The extra point attempt by Carter Doyle was unsuccessful.

Aidan Keyes led the Wildcats in passing yards with 343 on 15 completions. Sam Arndt was 2 for 3 with 28 yards.

Brennen Keyes led in rushing yards with 27, while Landry Yarbough had 13 and Aidan Keyes had 11.

With 151 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns, DeMarcus Conner led the Wildcats, while Andrew Ace had 67 yards, Davis Richter had 52 and Logan Derke had 28.

Brennen Keyes had 5 tackles for Belleville, while Logan Derke had 4, and Andrew Ace had 3.

Belleville hosts Cuba City on September 16th.
