Monroe/New Glarus Swim Team Competes at Badger West Relays

The Monroe/New Glarus Varsity Swim Team competed at the Badger West Relay Meet on August 30, 2022. The team finished in sixth place out of eight teams. Edgewood placed first, Baraboo second, Oregon third, McFarland fourth, Sauk Prairie fifth, Mount Horeb seventh and Portage eighth.
“Haley and I are very excited for the season this year,” said Coach Rachel Root. “Due to having a smaller team, we entered eight relays out of the twelve total relay events. However, out of the eight relays we swam in, six of the relays finished in the top three. We had a few swimmers that swam close to their season best times from last year. Our freshmen swimmers swam well at their first high school meet. We are excited to watch our team continue to improve throughout the season. The swimmers did a great job supporting one another throughout the meet.”
2nd Place finishes included the 200 Medley (Amelia Geib, Brinlee Chapman, Danika Doll, Kristina Foley), and the 4x50 Fresh/Soph (Anna Zentner, Delaney Lynch, Megan Chapman, Piper Faber). 3rd Place finishes included 4x100 IM Relay (Riley Hoesly, Amelia Geib, Maggie Piper, Piper Faber), 4x50 Breast/Fly/Breast/Fly (Megan Chapman, Anna Zentner, Maggie Piper, Delaney Lynch), 4x50 Fly (Anna Zentner, Delaney Lynch, Maggie Piper, Riley Hoesly), and 400 Free Relay (Megan Chapman, Danika Doll, Amelia Geib, Riley Hoesly).
Meet Results
In the Girls 500 Yard Free 50-100-150-200 Relay, the team of Alexis Elgin, Piper Faber, Danika Doll and Kristina Foley finished seventh with a time of 5:52.14.
The team of Riley Hoesly, Amelia Geib, Maggie Piper and Piper Faber finished third in the 400 Yard Medley 4x100 IM Relay, with a time of 4:47.22.
The 200 Yard Medley 4x50 Br/Fly/Br/Fly Relay team, consisting of Megan Chapman, Anna Zentner, Maggie Piper and Delaney Lynch, finished in third place with a time of 2:10.02.
In the 100 Yard Free 4x25 Relay event, the tam of Kristina Foley, Brinlee Chapman, Alexis Elgin and Abby Ryan finished in seventh place with a time of 1:02.65.
The 200 Yard Fly 4x50 Relay team, consisting of Anna Zentner, Delaney Lynch, Maggie Piper and Riley Hoesly, finished in third place with a time of 2:00.57.
In the 200 Yard Medley 4x50 Relay, the team of Amelia Geib, Brinlee Chapman, Danika Doll and Kristina Foley finished in second place with a time of 2:23.03.
Finishing in second place in the 200 Yard Free 4x50 FR/SO Only Relay was the team of Anna Zentner, Delaney Lynch, Megan Chapman and Piper Faber, with a time of 1:48.08.
The 400 Yard Free 4x100 Relay team, consisting of Megan Chapman, Danika Doll, Amelia Geib and Riley Hoesly, had a third place finish, with a time of 4:02.54.
The Monroe/New Glarus Cheesemakers will host a meet at the YMCA against Oregon on September 8th. On September 10th they will swim at Lodi, and on September 13th will swim at Edgewood.
