The New Glarus Glarner Knights varsity baseball team hosted Argyle on May 23rd. The Knights jumped out to an early lead in the first inning and cruised to a 16-3 win over the Orioles.
Brett Warrell was 1x1 with 1 run scored and 3 RBI, while Eli Zimmerman went 1x2 with 3 runs scored, Ethan Friedrich was 1x2 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI and Leyton Mihlbauer was 1x3 with 2 runs scored. Patrick Alt scored 3 runs, while Jake Roth and Brennan Butler scored 2 runs each and Sam Copeland scored 1 run.
Leyton Mihlbauer, Eli Zimmerman and Cale Weeden pitched for the Knights, with Zimmerman striking out 3 and Mihlbauer 2.
On May 27th, the Knights played in a WIAA Regional game against Parkview. Another early lead by the Knights led to the 12-4 win over the Vikings.
Leyton Mihlbauer and Eli Zimmerman were both 2x3 with 2 runs scored, with Mihlbauer having an RBI. Patrick Alt and Brett Warrell also scored 2 runs each and Nate Hendrickson, Sam Copeland, Ethan Friedrich and Brennan Butler each scored 1 run each.
Leyton Mihlbauer and Patrick Alt pitched for New Glarus, with Mihlbauer striking out 1 and Alt 2.
With the win, New Glarus moved on to the second round of Regional play on May 31st, against a familiar team - the Belleville Wildcats. The winner of that game moved on to play the winner of the Deerfield vs Cambridge game on June 1st.
