The Sugar River Raiders Mason Mau, center, is headed to the WIAA Individual State Tournament on Thursday, February 24th, at the Kohl Center.
The Raiders had a great day on Saturday at the WIAA Sectional Tournament in Richland Center. Mason Mau qualified for his second time for the WIAA Individual State Tournament. As runner up at the Sectional tournament, Mason will compete at the state tournament this Thursday.
"Mason has continued to be a dominant wrestler throughout the season. He had dedicated many, many hours during the off season to put himself in this position," said Coach Pete Swenson. "The door is wide open for him to be at the top of the podium at the end of next weekend."
The other Raiders gained wonderful experience this weekend. Both Blake Endres and Carson Loshaw went 2-2 on the day and placed fourth in their respective weight classes. If something were to happen to anyone who placed first through third, they would be placed into the tournament. Ryker Swenson gained valuable experience to compete at this level. He, and all those who qualified, will be able to use this experience for the future.
