Lady Ponies Record Losses to Albany and Argyle

On February 8th, the Monticello Lady Ponies played at Albany. Down by 17 at the half, Monticello’s offense did score more points in the second half but ended up losing the game. The final score was Albany 58, Monticello 27.
“We played pretty well against a very good team. We played hard, showed a lot of hustle and improved since playing them the first time (we lost by 50 the first time),” said Coach Lori Brokopp. “Everyone on our team scored that night.”
Leading the team with 9 points was Ellie Gustafson, while Sadie Wilkins scored 4 points and Macey Freitag, Katelyn Eyler, Sarah Brokopp, Jaden Zuber, Dalana Trumpy and Karlee Wilkins all scored 2 points each.
The Lady Ponies hosted Argyle on February 11th. No halftime score was available, but Argyle won the game. The final score was Argyle 79, Monticello 39.
“They were on fire from outside the arc...hitting 12 3-pointers,” said Coach Brokopp. “We just couldn’t keep up with that.”
Dalana Trumpy led the Ponies with 17 points, while Ellie Gustafson scored 13 points, Sarah Brokopp and Jaden Zuber both put 4 points on the board and Karlee Wilkins scored 1 point.
Monticello faced Argyle again on February 15th. They will wrap up their regular season on February 17th at Barneveld. The Ponies have a 3-7 record in the Six Rivers East (7-12 overall).
