The Belleville Girls Basketball Program wrapped up this very unforgettable 2020-21 season with their Girls Basketball Awards Ceremony on Sunday, February 21st. Every one of these athletes and coaches continued to persevere throughout this very difficult season and continued to grow with each and every game and every single one of them deserves to be recognized for their amazing dedication this season.
They started their season only to get shut down after just two days of practice due to COVID. After being shut down for two weeks, they found a way to start their season up again but had to play all games on the road.
Some of the individual awards handed out were: Most Improved Player, which was handed out to two players this year. This award was given to Alyssa Caskey and Kenna Edge. Every year, the Coaches Award is presented to a Senior member of the team that shows exceptional leadership both on and off the court. This year's Coaches Award was presented to Cecelia Grefsheim. Next, Coach Pharo presented his four Team Captains who worked to keep the team informed of what was going on throughout the season with Team Captain medals. These medals were presented to Mickey Stampfl, Cecelia Grefsheim, Callie Smith and Ava Foley. Also, the Wildcats recognized their 2020-21 Capital South All-Conference Team Awards this season which was presented to Callie Smith - 2nd Team All-Conference and Ava Foley - Honorable Mention.
In closing, Coach Pharo would again like to thank his coaches, players, parents, and school district for the support and help to make this season happen.
