New Glarus Girls Win Over Belmont and Waterloo

The New Glarus Lady Knights played at Belmont on January 4th. Leading by double digits at the half, New Glarus held on for a win. The final score was New Glarus 60, Belmont 42.
“Belmont is a very good young team,” said Coach Kevin Parman. “I was very happy with our pressure the first half opening up a 25-point lead at the break. We continually talk about starting the 2nd half fast, we pushed that lead to 35 two minutes into the 2nd half. After that, we made sure everyone saw minutes. It was a great TEAM win on the road.”
Lindsey Schadewalt and Jaylynn Benson each scored 16 points to lead New Glarus in scoring while Alex Atwell scored 8 points.
On January 8th, the Lady Knights hosted Waterloo. New Glarus was ahead 44-22 at the half and won the game. The final score was New Glarus 72, Waterloo 46.
“Great defensive effort by Grace Nommensenn and the whole team, holding their best player to 1 field goal,” said Coach Parman. “We are continuing to improve on the defensive end; we had a little bit of a scoring struggle out of the half but still managed to score a season high of 72.”
Leading New Glarus in scoring with 21 points was Jaylynn Benson, while Lindsey Schadewalt scored 20 points and Ellie Eichelkraut scored 8 points.
The Lady Knights will host Wisconsin Heights on January 12th. On January 15th they will host Marshall and on January 18th they will host Deerfield.
