The Monticello Lady Ponies played at Pecatonica on January 27th. The Lady Vikings held a 32-25 lead at the half and despite Monticello outscoring them in the second half, the Ponies lost a close game, 42-47.

Miah Brokopp scored 21 points while Mackie Errthum put 12 points on the board and Alexa Siegenthaler scored 5 points.

On January 30th, the Lady Ponies hosted Argyle. Trailing by 3 at the half, the Ponies fought hard throughout the second half and Harley Disch hit a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left in the game to send it into overtime. At the end of OT, Argyle ended up winning it, 50-46.

“Monticello struggled from the line all night,” said Coach Mark Gustafson. “Particularly in overtime, where we went 1 for 8 from the line.”

Ellie Gustafson led the Ponies with a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Harley Disch scored 10 points, Mackie Errthum scored 9 points and had 13 rebounds and 5 blocked shots and Miah Brokopp also scored 9 points.

The Ponies played at Barneveld on February 4th and will host Pecatonica on February 7th and Juda on February 13th.
