Belleville's Alyssa Caskey (#20) takes a shot in traffic against Parkview.

The Wildcats hosted the Parkview Vikings on Tuesday, January 7th. The first half of the game was very tight between the two teams, partly because Belleville was trying to implement a new defense and very timely shooting by Parkview. At halftime, Coach Pharo decided to go back to one of their base defenses that they had been running all year and it seemed to energize the team in the second half. In the second half of the game Belleville was able to outscore the Vikings 40 to 26 to take home a 61-45 victory.

The Wildcats were led in scoring by Ava Foley, who had a game high of 21 points, while Jenna Shrader chipped in 14 and Callie Smith contributed 11 to the scoreboard.

On Thursday, January 9th, the Wildcats traveled to Marshall to take on the two-time Division 3 State Champs. Coach Pharo was happy with the focus the Wildcats came out of the locker room with, but ran into a buzz saw when it came to Marshall's shooting. Marshall finished the game shooting 60% from the field. The game was played at a very fast pace, but Belleville couldn't match the scoring power on this night that Marshall deployed. The final score ended up being Marshall 86 and Belleville 57. Coach Pharo also stated that the team played very hard and the score wasn't a true indication about how well his group of girls played.

Belleville was led in scoring by Jenna Shrader with 18 points, and Ava Foley and Erin Kittleson chipped in 9 and 8 points, respectively.

The Wildcats need to regroup to take on New Glarus on Tuesday, January 14th, at home and travel to Cambridge January 17th, which will turn out to be two important games for conference standings.
