Callie Smith (#34) takes the tip for the Wildcats vs Albany, with Jenna Shrader (#1) and Ava Foley (#15) looking on.

On Friday, December 20th, the Belleville girls basketball team traveled to Albany to take on the Comets. Albany came into the game with a 5 and 2 record, and had been playing good basketball. Belleville came out very focused and jumped out to a 32 to 20 halftime lead. Jenna Shrader hit three 3-pointers in the first half to help the Wildcats. In the second half, both teams came out with tremendous energy and focus leading to a very tight half. The second half also saw many fouls, which led to the Belleville Wildcats leaning on junior Cecilia Grefsheim playing very important minutes down the stretch. Grefsheim responded by scoring her season high 9 points and even more importantly taking a charge foul which led to a pivotal point in the game.

Coach Pharo was very excited to see how the Wildcats have come together with their team chemistry and how well they have played on the road against some stiff competition so far this season.

Belleville was led in scoring by seniors Jenna Shrader and Erin Kittleson with 18 and 12 points respectively, and Cecilia Grefsheim with 9 points. The final score of the game was 63-53, with Belleville clenching their sixth victory in a row.

On Friday, December 27th, the Wildcats take on Lake Mills who is ranked 3rd in Division 3 in the state and on Saturday, December 28th, they face Lakeside Lutheran.
