The Sugar River Wrestling Team completed the 2022-2023 season with three place winners at the WIAA State Wrestling Tournament for the first time since the 2006-2007 season. To make the state tournament is a great accomplishment within itself. To place in the top six, well it's just awesome!!

Mason Mau finished in fifth place at the state tournament for the Raiders wrestling team.
The Raiders' Blake Endres, Mason Mau, and Eli Leonard were able to stand on the podium and claim that they are the best of the best. All wrestlers had identical records at the tournament (3-2), but different routes to their place. However, on the last day of the tournament, all wrestlers won their final match of their season to take fifth place.
"Each guy should be extremely proud to place at the state tournament. The smallest mistake can take someone from placing at the tournament to watching it from the stands," said Coach Pete Swenson. "I could tell that each guy stepped out on the mat with confidence and the determination they've had all season. Even though they placed, I know they wanted more and will continue to set their goals high for next season. As a coach, we had a wonderful season. The team worked hard and made great strides. We accomplished many things and placed high at many tournaments, but there is so much more potential within this team, and they know it. I know they will take some time to reset, but will get back to work in the offseason to get ready for next season."
