The Sugar River Raiders boys' soccer season ended last weekend on the McFarland High School turf. The team faced a challenging opponent, the #1 state-ranked McFarland Spartans. McFarland won the match, 4-0.
Earlier in the week the Raiders played Cambridge/Deerfield in the Regional semi-finals. Having tied in regular season play, the team prepared extra hard and won 2-0. The go-ahead goal was scored by Breckin Faber (Charlie Douma assist). David Murray headed in the second goal off a corner kick from Ryan Downing.
Whether the Raiders won or lost, a sense of Raider Pride was evident this season. The Raiders finished 2019 as back-to-back Conference Champs, and with an overall record of 12-8-1.
