For the third straight year, the Sugar River Raiders girls varsity soccer team has claimed the Capitol Conference Championship. The Raiders were undefeated in conference play, not allowing a single goal to be scored by their conference opponents.
Week 11 of Raider girls soccer action concluded this past week with a big high in claiming their third straight Capitol Conference championship, shutting out Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld co-op 2-0!
Karstyn Rossing scored the lone first half goal, and Riley Hubbard with only a couple minutes left in the second half scored the 2nd and final goal. Sugar River had 1 save and WI Heights/Barneveld had 4. The girls finished 7-0 in conference play, NOT ALLOWING a single goal to be scored! Tough defense all season with a tremendous goal keeper were the keys to this success. Congratulations girls!
Later in the week, they traveled to DeForest for a non-conference final game of the regular season. The Norskies played aggressive throughout, scoring the lone goal of the entire game with only a few minutes left. Final score Raiders 0, Deforest 1.
Regular season record now 16-2-4, with first round regionals Thursday, May 30, at HOME against Cambridge/Deerfield co-op at 7:00 p.m.
