On Tuesday, May 14th, the New Glarus Knights baseball team hosted Waterloo, winning 4-3.
The game was scoreless until the 5th inning when Waterloo put a run on the board and the Knights answered back with 2. NG scored 2 more in the 6th and Waterloo attempted a comeback in the 7th with 2 of their own but fell short.
Connor Siegenthaler, Ben Melvin, Nathan Streiff and Carter Siegenthaler were all 1x2 at bat for the Knights, with Melvin and Streiff scoring runs. Holden Latsch was 1x3 at bat, with 1 run. Reeve Binger scored 1 run.
Holden Latsch pitched 5 innings for New Glarus, striking out 4, while Payton Mendleski pitched 2 innings and struck out 2.
The Knights hosted Wisconsin Heights on May 16th, winning 6-5.
New Glarus held a 2-run lead until Heights tied it up in the 5th. The Knights were behind by 2 at the bottom of the 7th and put 3 runners home to win the game.
Holden Latsch and Ben Melvin were both 1x2 at bat, with Latsch scoring 2 runs and Melvin with 1 RBI. Darris Schuett was 1x3 at bat and scored 1 run. Connor Siegenthaler, Reeve Binger and Nathan Streiff each scored 1 run, and Peyton Mendleski had 3 RBI.
Peyton Mendleski pitched 4.1 innings, striking out 4 while Carter Siegenthaler pitched 2.2 innings, striking out 2.
On May 17th, the Knights hosted Parkview. The Vikings took an early lead and never looked back, scoring 7 runs in the 6th inning to ensure their victory. The final score was Parkview 12, New Glarus 5.
Darris Schuett was 2x3 at bat with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI while Holden Latsch was 1x3 at bat with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Kylo Barker was 1x1 at bat and Connor Siegenthaler was 1x4 at bat. Cooper Dreyfus scored 1 run.
Five different pitchers shared pitching duties for the Knights. Ben Melvin pitched 2 innings, striking out 1, Eli Zimmerman pitched 2 innings, striking out 1, Cale Weeden pitched 1.1 innings, striking out 1, Kylo Barker pitched .2 inning, striking out 1 and Calvin Strok pitched 1 inning, striking out 1.
New Glarus hosted Belleville on Monday, May 20th and will play at Brodhead in a Regional game on May 23rd.
