The Raider varsity girls soccer team had another busy week in their ninth week of action.

On Tuesday, they hosted one of their strong north competitors in Lodi. A lot of back and forth action throughout most of the game. Scoring didn't take place until the 82nd minute, where Kirsten Krantz had a nice corner kick and Julia McNamar knocked it in. Five minutes later, Karstyn Rossing got one across the goal line for a 2-0 final score. Lodi had 3 saves and Sugar River 1. Record in Capitol Conference is now at 4-0. Nice going girls!

On Saturday, May 11, the Raiders hosted their annual Swiss Kick in New Glarus with complimentary "Swiss Yodelers" making their presence for the American AND Swiss National Anthems! The Raiders had the first match of the day against Beloit Memorial. Final score was 2-0, with Kallie Ace putting one in the net alone and Paige Leonard scoring with a corner kick. Hard fought game.

Monona Grove beat Columbus 4-0 in the 2nd semifinal game. Beloit Memorial played Columbus then in the consolation match, winning 4-1.

The Raiders battled Monona Grove in the championship game to a 0-0 tie after regulation leading to a shoot out. Junior Brooke Watrud booted the first goal in for the Raiders and Monona Grove got their next 1. Rachel Heittola had 4 HUGE saves following! Lastly, senior Ellawyn Fong nailed one in giving the Raiders the Victory 2-1! Way to go girls....their overall record now stands at 14-1-2.

The team plays at Watertown Luther Prep on May 16th, and will host Lakeside Lutheran on May 17th and Wisconsin Heights on May 21st.
