Sugar River Soccer Continues to Win

The Raider Girls Soccer team had a busy week this past one, playing four games in six days.

First on Monday, April 8th, they traveled to Platteville coming home with a victorious shutout 1-0. Riley Hubbard, assisted by Kirsten Krantz, scored the lone goal for the Raiders. Sugar River had 9 saves, Platteville 7.

On Tuesday, April 9, the girls traveled to Lake Mills to take on the Lady L-Cats. They came home victorious again, with a 1-0 shutout scoring only by senior Captain Morgan Hustad in the 2nd half. Sugar River saves were 2 and Lake Mills 12.

On Saturday, April 13, the Raiders hosted a triangular meet competing with Dodgeville and La Crosse Aquinas. The girls came away with two more shutouts and improved their record to 7-1 overall, with a #5 ranking in Division 3 WIAA girls Varsity Soccer. In the Dodgeville match, Ellie Gentilli and Kirsten Krantz each had a lone goal in the first half. In the second half, Callie Ace scored, assisted by Sydney Gentilli, and Sydney Gentilli, assisted by Jaylynn Benson, for the last two goals. Final: Raiders, 4-0. Dodgeville had 2 saves. In the La Crosse Aquinas match, the lone goal was put in by Callie Ace, assisted by Riley Hubbard, in the first half. Rachel Heittola had 1 save, LAX had 4. Final: Raiders 1-0. Way to go girls!

The Raiders played at Evansville on April 15th and hosted Cambridge-Deerfield in New Glarus on April 16th. On April 23rd they will host McFarland in Belleville.
