The Monticello girls basketball team hosted Barneveld on January 15th.

“We got down by a lot early,” said Coach Mark Gustafson. “We were able to chip away and get back into the game by halftime.”

The score at halftime was close, Barneveld 19, Monticello 16.

“We led by 10 with 9 minutes to go and then Barneveld caused us to turn it over and they went on a big run to end the game,” said Gustafson.

Alyssen Noriega led the Ponies with 13 points, while Abby Wicker scored 11 points and Claire Klossner scored 6 points.

The team hosted Benton on January 22nd, will play at Pecatonica on January 24th and will play Weston at Just A Game Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells on January 26th.
