It is winter's beginning, but still the cold temperatures, lack of blooms, and absence of sweet smells of flowers or falling rain have some yearning for things more common months beyond.
An intermission, ever so short, would be enough to get us through another day or until a white blanket falls, remains, and covers everything drab.
Brilliant, lime-green watercress can be that winter pause. Just seeing life, sometimes frost-covered, hearing the running, bubbling water, and the warm touch with an ungloved hand will bring a thought of warmer, brighter days.
Watercress habitat is rewarding, too, with the sounds of feeding, chirping birds and color contrasts with green leaves, white frost, and colorful feathers.
It may not be springtime, but it is time to enjoy time at a spring.
