November 8, 2018

It’s official, we have our first perfect score of the season. Don Field and Marvin Thompson put their brand on the first 120-point night in the Cowboys’ 100-point win over the S’Wisco Taphaus Cheese Eaters. Dave Wilborn and Ferdie Schmitz had their own iron in the fire, cutting out another 115 points for the Cowboys. Although not a single Cheese Eater accumulated as much as 100 points, it was Brett and Rex Hoesly who couldn’t cut the cheese, adding a mere 73-point wedge to the Cheese Eaters’ stores for this week’s low. This is the third straight week that the low score has been a 73. With the help of Jack Gehin and Honker’s 114 points, the J&M River Rats had better luck than did their miniature Cheese Eater cousins, gouging out a 16-point win over the Norsk Pranksters.

In Verona, team Riley had three couples shuffle 109 points each into the deck while the fourth couple, Ed Chancellor and Stan Hook, commandeered another 112 points giving the Shufflers an 89-point win over the Mounties, who remain winless for the season. At the other end of the standings, the undefeated Kleeman Hay Shakers traveled to Pine Bluff with premeditated intensions of flooding the Pipe Benders’ cellar as the Hay Shakers needed a win to remain in first place. Although Tony (the cellar-dweller) Hoffman, Jeff Ellingson, Jerome Krantz and Tiny Zander pumped their share of water from the sump pump, it was insufficient to keep the Hay Shakers at bay. The Hay Shakers found the needle…where? In the haystack, naturally, and pricked enough pinholes to “rein” in 423 points against the Pipe Benders, with three sub players, who could only couple together 360 joints.

Standings: Kleeman’s 5-0; Norsk Cowboys 5-0; Riley 3-1; J&M Bar 2-2; Norsk Pranksters 2-3; Harley Blue Express 1-3; S’Wisco Taphaus 1-3; Jones’ Plumbing 1-4; It’s Time 0-4.

Schedule for November 8: Harley Blue @ J&M Bar (8:00); Riley Shufflers @ Norsk Pranksters (8:00); Norsk Cowboys @ Kleeman’s (7:30); It’s Time @ S’Wisco Taphaus (7:00); Jones Plumbing – Bye.
