The Monroe-New Glarus swim team hosted Stoughton on September 18th. Varsity won 107-63, while JV lost, 60-99.
“It was Parent’s Night and the girls showed their parents all that they can accomplish in the water. Morgan Erstad posted a team meter record on the 400 free with a time of 4:52.55. The girls are working hard and it is paying off at meets,” said Coach Linda Moser. “But they also know they really need to focus on fine tuning like getting the strong underwater kicks going, the breakouts and fast turns, as well as building their endurance and speed in order to be ready for the conference and sectional meets down the road.”
The team consisting of Mekenzie Hammer, Alyssa Roelli, Karley Michels and Morgan Erstad won the 200M Medley Relay with a time of 2:10.14. Finishing in second place was the team of Kaitlyn Elgin, Peyton Yaun, Samantha Schiro and Nina Schiro, with a time of 2:21.37.
In the 200M Freestyle, Morgan Erstad placed second with a time of 2:17.19, while Alyssa Roelli placed third with a time of 2:28.34 and Kendra Wenger placed fourth with a time of 2:32.26.
Mekenzie Hammer won the 200M IM with a time of 2:34.76. Finishing second was Kaitlyn Elgin with a time of 2:48.10, and Elsa Schaefer placed fourth with a time of 2:58.04.
Francesca Schiro won the 50M Freestyle with a time of 29.64 while Cammi Ganshert placed fourth with a time of 30.98 and Karley Michels placed fifth with a time of 31.57.
Alyssa Roelli won the 100M Butterfly with a time of 1:14.43. Samantha Schiro placed fifth with a time of 1:22.18, and Peyton Yaun placed sixth with a time of 1:23.33.
In the 100M Freestyle, Francesca Schiro placed second with a time of 1:04.14, Cammi Ganshert finished third with a time of 1:08.02, and Kendra Wenger finished fourth with a time of 1:10.98.
Morgan Erstad won the 400M Freestyle with a time of 4:52.55, while Nina Schiro placed second with a time of 5:05.23.
The team of Alyssa Roelli, Kendra Wenger, Cammi Ganshert and Francesca Schiro won the 200M Freestyle Relay with a time of 2:01.35, while Karley Michels, Peyton Yaun, Samantha Schiro and Laurel Houston placed fourth with a time of 2:12.49 and Dee Delforge, Taylor Rufer, Elsa Schaefer, Emily Meritt placed sixth with a time of 2:21.53.
Mekenzie Hammer won the 100M Backstroke with a time of 1:07.50, while Nina Schiro finished in second place with a time of 1:13.75 and Kaitlyn Elgin placed fourth with a time of 1:16.01.
Karley Michels won the 100M Breaststroke with a time of 1:23.96, while Peyton Yaun finished second with a time of 1:27.61 and Elsa Schaefer finished in fifth place with a time of 1:31.48.
The team of Francesca Schiro, Nina Schiro, Mekenzie Hammer and Morgan Erstad won the 400M Freestyle Relay with a time of 4:19.06, while Kendra Wenger, Kaitlyn Elgin, Laurel Houston and Cammi Ganshert finished fourth with a time of 4:46.77 and Tatiana Bobrowicz, Taylor Rufer, Samantha Schiro and Emily Meritt placed sixth with a time of 5:17.42.
The team next swims at Oregon on October 2nd and at Fort Atkinson on October 9th.
