Six Sugar River Wrestlers Compete in On the Water Tournament

Six Sugar River Wrestlers participated in the 64 Team Lourdes Academy "On the Water" Wrestling Tournament on December 29th & 30th. Top Row: Joe Quaglia (New Glarus) at 106 pounds, Robert Chenoweth (New Glarus) at 126 pounds, Max Gerner (Belleville) at 132 pounds. Bottom Row: Trevor Enloe (Belleville) at 138 pounds, Jack Diederich (Belleville) at 145 pounds, Danny Enloe (Belleville) at 285 pounds.

Six members of the Sugar River Wrestling team competed at the 2017 Lourdes On the Water Wrestling Classic, held at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, on December 30th and 31st.

Wrestling at 106 lbs, Joe Quaglia (15-6) scored 9 team points. In round one, Quaglia received a bye and in round two he won by fall over Wilmont Union's Kolby Moudy. In round three Quaglia lost by decision to Joey Chirillo of Andrew High School. In round four, Quaglia won by decision over Neenah's Evan Piechocki. In round five, Quaglia lost to West De Pere's Jake Hendricks by decision.

Robert Chenoweth (11-8), wrestled in the 126 lb weight class and scored 4 team points. In round one, Chenoweth lost to Neenah's Dante Caiani by decision and received a bye in round two. In round three Chenoweth won by decision over Alex Loing of West Allis Nathan Hale. In round four, Waupaca's Tanner Johnson won by tech fall over Chenoweth.

Wrestling in the 132 lb weight class was Max Gerner (13-6), who scored 6 team points. Gerner won round one by decision of Manitowoc Lincoln's Walker Bergene and then went on to win round two by fall over Edgar's Jakob Lipinski. In round three, Reedsburg Area's Caden Fry won by decision over Gerner, and in round four Gerner lost by fall to Tomahawk's Alex Bishop.

Trevor Enloe (14-7) wrestled in the 138 lb weight class and scored 3 team points. In round one, Enloe lost by fall to Grafton's Nick Swenson and won round two by fall over Carson Lemmer of Edgar. In round three, Enloe lost by decision to West Allis Nathan Hale's Mauricio Rodriguez.

Wrestling in the 152 lb weight class was Jack Diederich (10-9). In round one, Diederich lost by fall to Wittenberg-Birnamwood's Jeremy Landowski. Diederich received a bye in round two, and in round three he lost by decision to Andrew High School's Christopher Houchins.

Daniel Enloe (7-8) wrestled in the 285 lb weight class and scored 10 team points. In round one, Enloe won by fall over James Kluck of Stevens Point High. Enloe lost by decision in round two to Bonduel's Seth Matz and in round three he won by fall over Taylor Pahl of Chippewa Falls. Enloe won by fall over Tomahawk's Kyle Nelson in round four and lost in round five to Ripon's Keegan Nordvold.

The team will attend an invitational at Sauk Prairie High School on January 6th, and will then compete at a quadrangular in Marshall on Thursday, January 11th.
