Avalanche Bantam A Statebound
Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA) Play Downs were held February 3-5. Seeded #1 for 2017 WAHA Region 4 Bantam 3A was Monroe Avalanche Bantam A. Their first game was Saturday morning vs. Baraboo. The Avalanche easily defeated Baraboo 8-2, and outshot them 50-16. Scoring were Hayden Roth (2), Luke Kuberski with a hat trick, Cooper Dreyfus (2) and Anika Einbeck. Nine different Avalanche players earned assists.
Playing for Regional Champs on Sunday were Avalanche and Sauk Prairie Flyers. It was a back and forth battle in the scoreless first period. After ice resurfacing, the Avalanche came back strong with a goal at the top of the second period from Cooper Dreyfus, assisted by Roman Bauer. Tessa Janecke scored a short-handed goal in the second period. The Avalanche kept momentum in the third period, again, Bauer found Dreyfus, who scored their final goal. The Avalanche kept the puck moving and all members made great plays throughout the game. Goaltender Jayden Johnson recorded 19 saves.
