Knights Win Against Cheesemakers

On December 27th, the New Glarus Knights boys basketball team played a non-conference game against the Badger South’s Monroe Cheesemakers, at home. After leading by 9 at the half, the Knights beat the Cheesemakers; the final score was New Glarus 88, Monroe 71.

The Knights dominated in the first half, at one point leading by 17 points thanks to a slew of turnovers by Monroe. The Cheesemakers responded with a 12-3 run. In the second half, the Knights led by as many as 18 points and the Cheesemakers attempted to overtake them but were not successful.

Jaden Kreklow led the Knights with 19 points, seven assists and two steals, and Cullen Brooks contributed 16 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Dishawn Gale put 15 points on the board and had one block and four assists.

“I’m very happy with this win,” said Coach Travis Sysko. “We had great balance with five different guys in double figures.  I feel like we played one of our better games of the season up to this point.”

The Knights, who have an overall record of 5-2, hosted Darlington on January 3rd and will travel to Waterloo on January 6th.
