New Glarus Volleyball Loses to Belleville

The New Glarus and Belleville volleyball teams met for the third time this season on October 18th, this time for a WIAA Regional Playoff game in Belleville. Belleville won the match, 3-0. Set scores were 18-25; 19-25; 15-25.

“The girls were really excited for another opportunity to play Belleville, a conference opponent that beat us twice in the regular season. This was our second match trying a new line up with Devon Boll acting as our second setter in the 6-2. She’s so athletic and really injected a great spark into our offense. Julia Barnaby also had a stand out match, collecting her season high in blocks - each one giving us great momentum. We put together a more solid match than we played all season, but just ran out of steam at the end of the third set. I’m proud of the girls for bringing so much heart into the game,” said New Glarus Head Coach Jenna Piche.

Devon Boll had three kills, two aces and five assists for New Glarus. Riley Parker had two aces and seven assists. Madison Perkins had ten digs while Lydia Sprecher had five. Julia Barnaby had four blocks. McKinley Righter had three kills.

For the Wildcats, Krista Diaz had seven kills, three blocks and one ace. Jade Halvensleben had six kills, two blocks and one ace. Allison Kowalski had ten assists while Samantha Trainor had six. Kowalski also had nine digs. Lucy Grady had five aces, while Sydney Gentilli had nine digs.

“While the outcome wasn’t what we hoped, the girls’ performance highlighted the progress we’ve made both technically and mentally throughout the season,” ended Piche.
