Sugar River Soccer Dominates Baraboo

Baraboo hosted the Sugar River soccer team on Saturday, September 10th, and were dealt a loss. Sugar River won, 4-1.

Sugar River's first point came from a goal by Brock Kelly, assisted by Nick Fahey. The teams went into halftime with Sugar River having a 1-0 lead. In the 56th minute of play, Otto Anson, assisted by Brock Kelly and Jack Gentilli, upped the score by one. Jaden Kreklow scored a goal in the 65th minute, making the score 3-0. Kreklow scored again less than ten minutes later, assisted by Charlie Douma. Baraboo scored their only goal near the end of the game.

Sugar River ended the game with 22 shots on goal, compared to Baraboo's five shots on goal. Cole Myers had four saves.

On September 13th, Sugar River hosted Poynette/Portage, handing the visitor's a loss. The final score was 5-2.

Poynette/Portage's D. Wadzinski started the scoring early in the first half, but not long after that Sugar River's Jared Widish scored the first goal for his team. Jaden Kreklow, assisted by Otto Anson and Brock Kelly, scored the next goal ten minutes later. Kreklow, assisted by Joey Sokol and Eziekel Noriega, scored again in the 32nd minute of play. Kreklow hit the back of the net again before halftime, and the score was 4-1. Poynette/Portage scored one in the second half, but it was too late to catch up. Brock Kelly assisted Charlie Douma with the last Sugar River point of the game in the 82nd minute. Goalkeeper Cole Myers had six saves on eight shots for the game.

In the game against Mount Horeb on September 15th, Sugar River lost 5-1.

Mount Horeb opened the scoring in the 5th minute of the game. They would score twice more in the first half, making the halftime score 3-0 in favor of Mount Horeb. In the second half, Mount Horeb scored two more goals before Brock Kelly put one in the goal. Goalkeeper Cole Myers had ten saves for the day.

Sugar River sits at second place in the Capitol Conference. On September 20th they hosted Wisconsin Dells and will host first place Lakeside Lutheran on September 22nd.
