Wildcats Lose to Waterloo and Beat Monticello

 


Belleville hosted Waterloo on May 23rd, losing to the visitors 5-0.

Waterloo scored twice in the third and three times in the fifth to seal their victory over the Wildcats.

Derek Baumgartner pitched for Belleville, striking out two.

Nicholas Richter went 2-4 at bat. Jesse McNamar, Drew Shrader and Cash Hoffman all went 1-3. Derek Baumgartner had the team’s other hit.

On May 24th, Belleville hosted Monticello, and won 12-2 in five innings.

The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead, making it 11-1 by the third inning. Monticello attempted a comeback in the top of the fifth, but could only score once. Belleville scored their final run in the bottom of the fifth.

Cody McMillan pitched for the Wildcats, striking out three.

Jesse McNamar went 2-3 at bat for Belleville, scoring two runs. Scott Schwoegler and Cody McMillan were both 1-2, with Schwoegler scoring two runs and McMillan one. Other players scoring runs were Nicholas Richter with three, Kevin Zimmerman and Coltyn Winkers with one apiece, and Brock Kelly with two runs.

Logan Marty and Zach Price shared pitching duties for the Ponies. Marty struck out two.

Trenten Ryan went 1-1 for the Ponies, and scored one run with one RBI. Dezmond Hanenberger went 1-2, with one run scored. Zach Price was 1-3, with one RBI. Billy Spahr, Trent Siegenthaler and Travis McCoy all had one hit for Monticello.

Unfortunately, the third time was not the charm in the game against Wisconsin Heights on Thursday, where Belleville lost 14-4 in five innings.

Heights took the lead early on and were up 4-0 when Belleville scored two runs in the top of the third. Heights answered with two runs of their own, and seven more in the fourth. Belleville scored another two runs in the top of the fifth. Heights added one more before the game was over.

Scott Schwoegler and Cody McMillan shared the mound for the Wildcats. Schwoegler struck out five, while McMillan struck out one.

Jesse McNamar went 3-3 at bat, with one RBI and scoring two runs. Drew Shrader and Coltyn Winkers were 1-2. Shrader had two RBIs. Nicholas Richter and Cody McMillan scored one run each.

Belleville ended their season with a 1-15 conference record in the Capitol South, and an overall record of 4-20.
