Ponies Slay Vikings

The Ponies softball team faced Potosi on April 7th, but lost in five innings, 11-0.
Jessie Garrison went 2-3, and Lexi Graber went 1-2 and were the team’s leading hitters.
On April 12th, the Ponies played Pecatonica. They were victorious over the Vikings, 18-8.
Coach Duane Garrison said, “You never know what you are going to get, today they went a combined 10x19.”
Leading hitters were Jessie Garrison who went 5-5, with five runs scored and three RBIs; Jacey Rufer, 3-4, Lindsey Pence, 2-3, and Hannah Zanow, 2-2.
On April 14th, the Ponies were handed a devastating loss by the Juda Panthers. The Panthers came out on top, 19-2.
Megan Lehr and Lindsey Pence both went 1-2 at the plate.
On April 21, the Ponies traveled to Belmont. They lost, 11-0.
Garrison commented, “With a young team we struggled at time to make the simple plays early in the game. Jessie Garrison took the loss for the Ponies.”
Hanna Zanow, Claire Klossner and Makensie Scott all went 1-3 at bat.
Monticello hosted Darlington on Friday and lost a back and forth battle, 12-6.
“The Ponies led 5-4 in the fifth, but could not hold the lead, as the Redbirds scored two in the sixth and six in the seventh to get the win,” said Coach Garrison.
Jessie Garrison and Hanna Zanow led the Ponies, going 2-4.
Monticello played in Black Hawk on April 26th and get a bit of a rest before playing Cassville/River Ridge on Friday at home.
