The New Glarus Knights took on the Orfordville Parkview Vikings on March 1st in New Glarus, in a WIAA Regional game. The Knights took a commanding lead in the first half of the game, and were leading at half-time with a score of New Glarus 47, Parkview 12.

The second half of the game, Parkview outscored New Glarus, but the Knights held on to their lead and won the game. The final score was New Glarus 73, Orfordville Parkview 39.

Coach Travis Sysko commented, "I thought we played exceptionally well tonight. The guys did a great job of finding the open man and knocking shots down when they were open."

Senior Guard Trey Taylor led the Knights with 16 points and one assist. Freshman Guard Zach Feller finished the game with 14 points and one assist. Freshman Guard Jaden Kreklow put 12 points on the board and had one steal and two assists.

Parkview's Jade Noble finished with 7 points. Dalton Andersen and Josh Soderstrom each scored 6 points.

The win on Tuesday meant that the Knights would face the Cuba City Cubans on Friday, March 4. The Cubans had a bye in the first round of the Division 4 regionals, so they were well-rested and ready to play the Knights on their home turf. Cuba City came in third in the Southwest Wisconsin Activities conference, with a conference record of 10-4, and a 17-7 overall record.

The Knights came out fighting in the first half against the Cubans, but were trailing by 8 by the time they headed into the locker room for half-time.

Things fell apart for New Glarus in the second half, and the Cubans easily won the game. The final score was Cuba City 68, New Glarus 45.

"Tonight was a tough loss. We probably had our worst shooting performance of the season. It also didn't help that we were without Gavin Binger, due to an injury suffered in our win over Parkview. It's disappointing, because we have really been practicing and playing well these past couple of weeks," said Sysko.

Cuba City's Benjamin Burkholder poured in 22 points for his team. Justin Droessler and Chris Moor both scored 15 points each.

The Knights end their season with a Capitol South conference record of 8-2, and an overall record of 15-9. They were second in their conference, behind the undefeated Marshall Cardinals.

"Even though we suffered a disappointing loss, it doesn't take away from the successful season these boys put together," reflected Sysko. "I'm extremely proud of them."
