Knights Triumph Over Heights

 


The New Glarus Knights basketball team hosted Wisconsin Heights on February 9th. The Knights led the Vanguards at half-time by 14 points.

New Glarus won the game, 78-64.

“We had a good win tonight against Wisconsin Heights,” said Coach Travis Sysko. “With four players in double figures, I was pleased with our balance on offense.”

Gavin Binger and Jaden Kreklow led the Knights with 19 points each. Binger added three assists and two steals and Kreklow had one steal and one block. Trey Taylor added 16 points and one steal. Austin Schlueter scored 10 points and had one assist.

Tony Caminiti led the Vanguards with 27 points and five rebounds. Tylan Parman scored 20 points and had seven rebounds. Camden Parman scored 8 points and had six rebounds.

On Friday, February 12th, the Knights headed to Marshall to play the undefeated Cardinals. The Knights were trailing Marshall at half-time by only 6 points.

Marshall outscored the Knights in the second half, and won the game, 80-58.

“I thought we played a solid first half against a very good Marshall team,” said Sysko. “Unfortunately they made some runs in the second that we just didn’t have answers for.”

Jaden Kreklow poured in 21 points as the leading scorer for the Knights, he also had two assists. Gavin Binger added 16 points and Nick Santamassino contributed 8 points and had two assists.

Marshall’s Adam Wehking scored 19 points, while Brandon Neuberger had 18 points and Adam Link scored 16 points.

New Glarus is 7-2 in the Capitol South; their only two conference losses are to Marshall. On February 18th the Knights host Waterloo and then the team heads to Darlington on February 22nd.
