Woods Named to Dream Bowl IV
Donovan Woods, a 2011 graduate of Belleville High School and a Defensive Back for Southwest Minnesota State University, was recently named to the Dream Bowl IV team. The Dream Bowl IV will take place on January 18, 2016, at Virginia Beach Sportsplex. The Dream Bowl was created for college athletes to showcase their talents before professional scouts.
Woods has also been named to the 2015 Academic All-America Division II football first team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Woods, a senior, started all 11 games this season and ranked fifth on the team with 55 tackles, including 2.5 for loss. He led SMSU with 10 pass break-ups and had one forced fumble and recovered two fumbles. To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
