NG Edges Cambridge 3-2
In their final conference match of the season, the New Glarus volleyball team edged Cambridge, 21-25, 25-23, 28-26, 20-25, 15-10.
With this win, the Knights earned the fourth spot in the Capitol Conference South behind Marshall, Wisconsin Heights, and Waterloo.
“The girls had some ups and downs, but overall, they pulled out a big win. They had some good stats, but an area of focus before our first regional game will be serving,” explained Head Coach Kelsey Schmit. “The team was thrilled to get a win on a night honoring our wonderful seven seniors.”
Leading the way for the Glarner Knights was Maddie Macht with 23 kills, six aces, and 22 digs. Devon Boll tallied 13 kills. McKinley Righter earned three blocks while Haley Reeson and Julia Barnaby had two each. Kati Way totaled three aces, and Alex Nealis amassed 46 assists. Vanessa Narveson had 33 digs.
The Glarner Knights’ record is 4-6 in the conference and 11-15 overall.
Earlier that week, New Glarus lost to Waterloo 13-25, 13-25, 8-25.
Macht amassed eight kills and four digs. Boll earned five kills, one ace, and four digs. Narveson tallied one ace and five digs while Nealis totaled 15 assists.
The Glarner Knights took on Parkview at home at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the first round of regionals. See next week’s edition for more information on this match.
