Maire and Gilbertson Continue Winning

 


The Belleville cross country teams competed at the Capitol Conference meet on Tuesday, Sept. 22 in the South division. The boys team placed fourth overall while the girls took fourth as well.

Senior Tyler Gilbertson was first to cross the line with a time of 17:37. He was followed by senior Justin Edge in 14th place at 19:36

In 19th place was junior Jordan Hosler at 20:20, and behind him, freshman Caden O'Rourke finished in 24th with a time of 20:53.

Freshmen Josh Bowers and Gary Salmela crossed the line consecutively with times just over 21 minutes.

Brittney Kiefer competed in the Capitol Conference meet last week.

Rounding out the team was sophomore Evan Reifert with a time of 23:22.

Senior Noelle Maire continued her winning ways by taking first at 20:45.

Freshmen Alexis Walker and Mili Julian took 25th and 26th place with times around the 26-minute mark.

A trio of juniors was next to cross the line for Belleville with times under 27 minutes: they were Rachel Uebelacker, Britney Markhardt, and Clarice Loeffelholz.

Junior Brittany Kiefer finished in 40th place at 28:13.

"Both athletes (Gilbertson and Maire) ran strong races on a hilly course with a less than desirable starting line that made a quick start challenging," stated Head Coach Tamara Houser. "Our next meet is in Platteville and is run on the UW-Platteville campus."
