NG-M Loses to Redbirds on the Road, 30-13
The New Glarus-Monticello football team lost to Darlington on the road, 30-13.
The Knights only scored in the second and fourth quarters.
NG-M had 329 yards rushing on 41 carries, with neither team having any passing yards; the Knights fumbled the ball three times and had one interception while the Redbirds had only two fumbles.
Trey Taylor led NG-M with 248 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns.
“It was a wet, sloppy game. Both teams had to deal with the weather conditions, so there were a lot of fumbles on snaps. It was a tight game the first half, and Darlington took momentum at the start of the third quarter,” explained Head Coach Desie Breadon. “Hats off to Darlington for making plays and taking advantage of opportunities. The game was there: we just didn’t finish plays, drives, and the game. We still need to eliminate some mental mistakes and focus on doing the small things correctly. We had chances to score and just didn’t capitalize on them. Overall, NG-M improved again from week one, and we got deeper by getting younger players experience again this week. Defense and tackling were improved from week one. If we continue to improve and actually ‘turn the corner,’ we will reach our potential as a team.”
