New Glarus Baseball Team Dominated by Lodi, 11-1

At New Glarus on Tuesday, April 21, the baseball team played against Lodi where they were dominated 11-1.

Gavin Binger was one for two with one run, and Andrew Molencamp was one for one.

Pitching was John Chenoweth who went three innings and two outs. He gave up eight hits, 11 runs, and two earned runs while walking three and striking out four. Molencamp hurled the ball the rest of the way, giving up three hits and no runs. He walked two and struck out none.

“We let the weather affect us today, plain and simple.  It was cold out and both teams were uncomfortable, but Lodi was able to overcome the cold and play their game.  We gave way too many extra outs to them, and they took advantage.  Errors have killed us this season and didn’t help today.  We had some good moments, but it was not the effort I was looking for.  We have got to find a way as a team to pick each other up when an error happens and not let it snowball and make things worse,” explained Head Coach Ross Eddy.

“I thought we got good pitching from Chenoweth and Molencamp today.  They were thrown into pitching as a last minute switch, but both did a great job.  We are struggling at the plate, but I’m hoping that can turn around so we can help our defense out.  We continue to battle; we just need to find a way to put up some early runs and build some confidence.  We are close!”
