Wrestlers Host Raider Scramble

The Sugar River Wrestlers hosted the Raider Scramble on Saturday, December 8th, at New Glarus High School. Five wrestlers placed in the top three. Top Row (L-R): Robert Chenoweth-first place 145 (shown on the award stand and wrestling); Joe Quaglia-third place 120. Five Sugar River wrestlers placed in the top three at their home tournament, the Raider Scramble, held Saturday, December 8th in New Glarus.
Wrestling at 120 lbs, Joe Quaglia (6-4) placed third and scored 14 team points. In round one, Quaglia won by fall over Durand/Pecatonica's Josh Maiella and in round two Quaglia won by major decision over Evansville/Albany's Nicholas Barmore. In round three, Quaglia lost by decision to Brodhead/Juda's Russell Waeffler and in round four, Quaglia lost by decision to Evansville/Albany's Jared Miller. In the third place match, Quaglia won by fall over Dodgeville's Drew Palmer.
Wrestling at 132 lbs, Avery Lettman (3-3) placed third and scored 11 team points. In round one, Lettman won by fall over Jace Amacher of Monroe and in round two Lettman lost by decision to Brodhead/Juda's Theodore Policastro. In round three Lettman had a bye and in round four he lost to Evansville/Albany's Matt Kostroun. In the third place match Lettman won by fall over Monroe's Zack Roper.
Wrestling at 138 lbs was Cade Femrite (5-5) who placed fifth and scored 11 team points. In round one Femrite lost by fall to Adam Staver of Evansville/Albany and in round two Femrite lost to Durand/Pecatonica's Matthew Nevdal. In round three Femrite won over Monroe's Camden Foesch and in round four he won over Monroe's Austin Smiley. In the fifth place match, Femrite won by fall over Skyler Symons of Dodgeville.
Wrestling at 145 lbs, Robert Chenoweth (7-3) placed first and scored 23 team points. Chenoweth won round one by major decision over Monroe's Liam Hermanson and won round two by fall over Cuba City's Cooper Johnson. In round three, Chenoweth lost by decision to Evansville/Albany's Evan Senter and in round four he won by fall over Durand/Pecatonica's Mason Manning. In the first place match, Chenoweth won by fall over Evan Senter of Evansville/Albany.
Wrestling at 152 lbs, Jack Diederich (65) placed third and scored 10 team points. In round one Diederich won by decision over Monroe's Gabe Witt and in round two he won by major decision over Riley Long of Evansville/Albany. In round three, Diederich lost by major decision to Cuba City's Shaedyn Lane and in round four Diederich lost by fall to Jack Hauri of Brodhead/Juda. In the third place match, Diederich won by decision over Dodgeville's Eli Reeson.
Wrestling at 170 lbs, Justin Knoebl (1-7) placed eighth and scored 3 team points. In round one, Knoebl lost to Josh Radke of Mount Horeb and in round two he lost by fall to Dodgeville's Riley Crook. In round three Knoebl won by fall over teammate Holden Latsch and in round four he lost by fall to Brian McCullough of Brodhead/Juda. In the seventh place match, Knoebl lost by fall to Cuba City's Tyler Reuter.
Wrestling at 182 lbs, Lance Varney (1-4) placed sixth and scored 5 team points. In round one Varney lost by fall to Tanner Bell of Dodgeville and in round two he lost by fall to Monroe's Alex Witt. In rounds three and four, Varney received a bye. In the fifth place match, Varney lost by fall to Evansville/Albany's Baylin Crull.
Wrestling at 285 lbs, Daniel Enloe (6-4) placed third and scored 15 team points. In round one, Enloe won by fall over Dodgeville's Louden Fuerstenberg and in round two he received a bye. In round three, Enloe lost by decision to Cuba City's Troy Liebfried and in round four he lost by fall to Bodie Minder of Monroe. In the third place match, Enloe won by fall over Jake Neis of Cuba City.
As a team, the Raiders placed sixth in the tournament.
On December 11th the team participated in a match at Whitewater and on December 15th they will participate in an invitational at Richland Center.
