Raiders Host Sugar River Invitational
Boys Place Second Narrowly Missing First Place, Girls Take Third
On Friday, May 15, the Sugar River Track and Field team hosted the Sugar River Invitational. The Sugar River boys team placed second with 122 points, just behind Lodi with 123.5 points. The girls team finished in third place with 99.5 points behind Columbus in second and Benton-Scales Mound-Shullsburg in first.
Senior Ryan Hayes took third place in the 100-meter dash at 11.69, and right behind him was junior Nick Smith in fourth place with a time of 11.74.
In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Cade Martin earned a fifth place finish at 24.52 while senior Tanner Hofer finished in sixth place with a time of 24.62.
Freshman Dalton Fahey placed fourth in the 400-meter dash at 54.15 while teammate junior Ryan Dull took eighth place at 55.46.
Freshmen Evan Reifert and Connor Theis ran the 800-meter run.
Sophomore Kyle Fredrickson took eighth in the 1600-meter run, and sophomore Levi Dearth and junior Tyler Gilbertson competed in this event as well.
Taking seventh place in the 3200-meter run was junior Justin Edge with a time of 11:10.26 while sophomore Christian Arnett placed 11th.
In the 110-meter hurdles, senior Colton Boley earned third place with a time of 16.23. Boley then won the 300-meter hurdles at 40.98, and teammate freshman Cole Myers took ninth with a time of 47.57.
Martin, Hofer, Hayes, and Smith earned a first place finish in the 4x100 relay at 45.53.
In the 4x200 relay, Martin, Nick Schult, Eli Rule and Hofer took second with a time of 1:37.15.
Taking fifth place in the 4x400 relay was the team of Lukas Diaz, Ryan Dull, Fahey and Boley at 3:39.63.
Also taking fifth was the team of Fredrickson, Reifert, Edge and Theis in the 4x800 relay with a time of 9:08.95.
In the shot put, junior Landon Zimmerman finished in first place with a distance of 50-01.00 while teammate senior Mike Fink was right behind in second place at 49-09.00. Senior Jackson McMahan earned a fifth place finish with a distance of 44-01.00.
Zimmerman also won the discus with a distance of 166-06; Fink took third at 128-09, and McMahan finished fourth with a throw of 127-06.
Hofer earned fifth place in the high jump with a distance of 5-08.00.
Smith participated in the pole vault.
Hayes placed third in the long jump with a distance of 20-03.00, and Rule took ninth at 18-06.50.
Diaz and sophomore Drew Pickett participated in the triple jump.
On the girls side, freshman Eliza Woods took ninth place in the 100-meter dash, and teammate junior Devyn Wieser competed in this race as well.
In the 200-meter dash, junior Logan Fahey earned third place with a time of 27.33, and junior Madalena Macht finished in seventh place at 28.42. Senior Ashley Clark also competed in this event.
Taking seventh place in the 800-meter run was junior Lauren O'Connor with a time of 2:43.89, and junior Kerry McCoy and freshman Abby Weisberg ran this as well.
Earning third place in the 1600-meter run was senior Brianne Roska at 5:48.25, and Weisberg took ninth with a time of 6:13.58.
In the 3200-meter run, senior Sam Barr took sixth place at 13:36.87.
Sophomore Krista Diaz earned a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles at 16.07. Diaz then placed third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.03, and sophomore Ciara Roberts participated in this event also.
The team of Bridget Craker, Wieser, Walela Three-Sticks and Woods took seventh place in the 4x100 relay at 57.63.
Fahey, Clark, Woods and Kati Way finished the 4x200 relay in fourth place with a time of 1:54.33.
Jessica Hutter, Roberts, Three-Sticks and Grace Schulting competed in the 4x400 relay.
In the 4x800 relay, the Raiders' team of Roska, Barr, O'Connor and Weisberg placed third at 10:43.87.
For shot put, junior Daisy Rivera earned sixth place at 29-04.00, and teammate junior Cassie McMillan was close behind in eighth place with a distance of 27-10.50. Senior Madelline Knox competed in this event as well.
Knox then took fifth place in the discus at 85-06 while McMillan earned sixth place with a throw of 84-05.
Senior Trisha Wiese finished in second in the high jump with a height of 4-10.00.
In the pole vault, Clark placed second with a height of 9-09.00, and Way tied for fourth at 8-00.00.
Schulting took third in the long jump at 15-10.00, and Macht was right on her heels in fourth place with a distance of 15-02.50. Additionally, Hutter participated in this event.
Macht won the triple jump at 33-03.50 while Schulting took eighth with a distance of 31-00.00. Hutter also competed in the triple jump.
