This run would not be possible without our generous sponsors and the time and talents of our many volunteers. We would like to thank the First United Church of Christ members for providing refreshments and the confirmation class for volunteering on the day of the event. We would also like to express our appreciation to Jim Schultz of Sugar River Kettle Corn for donation of snacks and to Doris Diaz and Marian Viney for marketing and publicity. This day would not be possible without the help of Belleville High School Principal, Nate Perry, who helped to coordinate the run. We would also like to acknowledge Belleville High School students: Isaac Brummel who designed our logo and Noah Fahey who provided DJ services throughout the morning. DECA students and Marketing classes led by Erik Farrar volunteered the day of the run and provided valuable marketing assistance. We extend a special thank you to Santa Charlie Erickson for making a surprise appearance and to the Belleville EMS and Police Department for their support throughout the planning process and on the day of the race.
This year, almost 90 runners (children and adults) ran in memory of Reverend Heide Walker Hackman, past president of BCHIP. The UW Organ and Tissue Donation Team, along with Dottie, were present the day of the race to provide information on grief support and organ donation. Both of these causes were very important to Heide.
Proceeds will benefit BCHIP and BCAP (Belleville Community Assistance Program). These funds will provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors, help support the Belleville High School post-prom party, provide assistance for families in need in the Belleville area, and sponsor events promoting the health and well-being of the entire Belleville community. If you or your organization would be interested in sponsoring next year's event, making a donation, or becoming a part of BCHIP please contact us at (608) 217-7643 or via email at flickster6@charter.net.
