Eli Leonard, an 8th grader, went 5-0 for the day pinning three of his opponents en route to his first State Championship in five appearances! Previous years he placed 6th, 3rd, 5th, and 2nd, respectively. Eli has been wrestling since he was 4 years old and has compiled an amazing record of 472 wins 95 losses and 256 pins in 10 years! Two weeks ago, he competed in the National Dominate Dells tournament in Milwaukee in the 16u 145# division. Eli went 3-0 for the day pinning two opponents and another championship placing. He was also voted Most Outstanding Wrestler for the 16u division. Congratulations to Eli for all of his youth accomplishments! He wrestles with Sarbacker Wrestling Academy.

Ten youth Sugar River wrestlers took to the mats at the Alliant Energy Center this past Friday and Saturday. Five of the 10 competed for their FIRST TIME!

Wrestling at 75# in the girls division was Ava Krueger, going 0-2. Kashton Lentz, 45#, and Jullian Crennell, 64#, both got beat out in their first two matches also. Brooks Krauss, 90#, went 1-2, and 7th grader Marcus Hebgen, 110#, went 2-2 for his day respectively.

Happy all these kids got to compete and take part in such a rewarding and exciting day. Congrats to you all!
