Belleville's Kenna Edge goes up for a basket during Belleville's game against Parkview on Friday, December 3rd.
On Tuesday, November 30th, the Wildcats travelled to Shullsburg to take on the Miners. The first half of the game saw a very tight score with the Wildcats and the Miners going into the locker room tied 18-18 at the half. Coach Pharo stated that his team seemed to be a little off on this night and that was not helped by a game plagued with a total of 48 fouls. But Belleville was able to fight hard to grind out the win, coming away with a victory of 42-37 over the Miners.
Belleville was led in scoring by Ava Foley with 8 points and Kailey Prochaska with 6 points, as well Alyssa Caskey contributing 10 rebounds.
Coach Pharo stated that even though the points were low he is very proud of the depth of this year's team and that there was great balance in the scoring with nine total players scoring on this night.
Then on Friday, December 3rd, Belleville welcomed the Parkview Vikings to their home gym and this was also Youth Night for the Wildcats. Coach Pharo commented about how excited he was to see all the support from the community for Youth Night as well as the extra energy in the gym from the Pep Band and student section. The extra energy on this night saw the Wildcats come out with a renewed fire and quickly saw them take an impressive lead over the Vikings with a score of 47-13 at the half. This continued through the game and Belleville was again able to benefit from that great team depth, playing all fourteen members of the Varsity team with eleven total players scoring for the Wildcats leading to another Belleville victory with a final score of 78-24, taking their overall record to 5-0 on the season.
Belleville was led on this night by Kenna Edge with 17 points, Maddi DeSmet with 14 points, Lainey Winkers with 10 points, and Callie Smith with 14 rebounds for the Wildcats.
Belleville will welcome Benton on Monday, December 6th, and Poynette on Tuesday, December 14th, for their next two games on the schedule.
