The Sugar River Track and Field Program held their end of the season awards night recently. The evening included a wrap up of the past season, the acknowledgment of the senior athletes as well as what they have meant to the program over the last few seasons, and what the expectations will be going into next season. Other athletes were acknowledged for their hard work during the season, with the presentation of MVPs, MIPs, Coaches Awards and Captains.

Captains: Keatan Zimmerman, Katie Bowers, Kyla Jerome, Ava Foley, JJay Wenger, Andrew Remy, Conor McCoy, Adrix Devoe, and Tayler Yapp (missing from photo).

The evening culminated in a "picnic style" meal after the awards were presented.

Along with a great season, the girls won the Southern Division Dual Championship while also taking 3rd place at the Deerfield Classic. A record was broken, not once, but twice, this season. Ava Foley broke the 16' 8.25" long jump record set back in 2012 with a jump of 16'10" at the Raider invite and then again at the Sectional Track meet in Whitewater with a jump of 17' 1.5".

The season concluded with a trip to the state meet in La Crosse, retro jerseys in tow and the boys team of Conor McCoy, Carter Scholey, Thomas Nelson, and Matthew Loshaw (Jordan Wilder and Kaleb Welhouse as alternates) competing in the 4x800m relay (8:44, 17th) and Carter Scholey in the 3200m (DQ). It was not the way the two events wanted to go, but we are proud of what the boys had accomplished and looking forward to more athletes returning next year.
