Incumbent? Yes
Have you been on the village board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: Three years ago I was curious about various decisions being discussed around the village and town. As I wished to be an educated voter and have the most information from the people who have their feet on the ground and in the arena, I went to talk to the Village Board and learned there were vacancies, so I decided to request an appointment and do the work on the issues. After my appointed term was complete, I ran and was elected. I did not intend to run again but since have decided to run as a write-in candidate.
Why are you running for village board? There is important work to be done for this Village to function and tax dollars to be used in a way best for most. I feel I am informed and work hard to understand the whole picture and the reality of the budget and what needs to be prioritized.
While I had planned to leave this trustee position open for another to enjoy, if it was going to just be open, I felt my knowledge and ability to discuss and make decisions would be good to share for another term.
What issues do you find most important to the village board? List your top three priorities:
1. The Budget...we have worked hard to maintain services as they are for several years. We have very little new income for any area of our budgeted services to grow and several requests to increase our services have been made. We are so fortunate with what we have. We also have infrastructure that is aging and our borrowing limits need to be considered as we prioritize things like roads.
2. Overlapping Tax entities that are stressing our services and infrastructure. We need to be treated fairly as tax/utility payers in the village. We need to plan and work together not in silos without an understanding of each other. We are one. We need more collaborative planning.
3. I would like to make it easier for voters to get information and be interested before something is a hot button and help to get others interested in serving the community as it is so important to our daily lives and should not be taken for granted.
If you could reverse one village action, what would that be? I am not a fan of Monday Morning Quarter Backs. The Boards in the past did the best they could with the information and constraints of the time. I will be a forward thinker and only possibly roll my eyes at the past but it does no good for the future to dwell on the past only learn from it and not repeat it.
