Glen V. Turner

Glen V. Turner, age 73 of New Glarus, WI, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, at Select Specialty Hospital in Madison. He was born on January 11, 1948, in Marshfield, WI, the son of Vernon and Joyce (Capes) Turner.

Glen grew up in the Neillsville and the Owen-Withee area. On April 19, 1966, Glen began his service in the United States Navy and he served until his honorable discharge in 1970. His naval service included serving aboard the USS Intrepid. On February 28, 1970, he was united in marriage to Delores Rinehart at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. The couple then moved to the state of Oregon where Glen worked in a lumber mill and attended school for diesel mechanics. In 1975 they moved to Stratford, WI, to be closer to family, and Glen worked for Schneider Trucking in Wausau. 1978 saw Glen and his family move to New Glarus, WI, and Glen worked for Northern National Lease which became Ryder Truck Leasing. Later Glen would work for Dale Stampfli in New Glarus. Glen and Delores loved to travel and they achieved the milestone of visiting all of the lower 48 states. Through their travels Glen was able to connect with his ancestry as a Mayflower descendant. Glen was a member of the Stuessy-Kuenzi American Legion Post 141 and AMVETS. He also took part in the Badger Honor Flight in 2018.

Glen is survived by his wife, Delores; son, Glen (Rebecca) Turner Jr .; daughter, Kathryn (Toni) Elmer; and granddaughter, Trinity Elmer. He is further survived by his brothers, Dick and Rick Turner; aunts, Doris Koepke and Georgia Persson; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Turner; and sister, Betty Sipusich.

A visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus, WI. A graveside service with military honors will take place at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at the Primrose East Cemetery, 8906 Ridge Drive, Belleville, WI; Rev. Gene Talley will officiate.
