Ronald L. Schmid, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at the William S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born on September 19, 1933, in Madison the son of Delbert and Marion (Willoughby) Schmid.

Ron served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1954, and then also from 1956 to 1959. On September 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to Joyce Goodman while stationed in Germany. Ron worked for Ohio Medical and Ohmeda for many years until retiring in 1997. For many seasons, he and his family maintained a large vegetable garden, using organic practices before it was popular with manual pest and weed control. Ron also loved camping, especially with his good friends Tad and Teresa Tucker. He also enjoyed socializing with others at his apartment building in Belleville.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Arn and Pamela (Bill) Brunner; grandchildren, Jeremy (Joni), Amanda, Matthew (Giang) Andrew, Heather (Barry), Tahera (Tristan), Devin (Zachary), and Jon; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Joyce Watson and Jane Nelson; brother, Robert (Debbie) Schmid; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; son, Phillip; grandson, Scott Johnson Jr .; great-grandchildren, Christian-Troy and Hailey; and companion, Marcy Peterson.

A private family inurnment service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the Belleville Cemetery, 600 Dane Street, Belleville, WI, with Pastor Michael Hammond officiating. Military honors will be accorded.
