Andrew Henning

Age: 57

Occupation: Manufacturing Engineer Technician

Years lived in village: 16

Incumbent? No

Have you been on the village board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: Yes in the past, and currently on the board as a trustee.

Why are you running for village board president? Government is meant to provide services and improve the lives of its citizens. That is why I'm running for village President. As an engineering technician at Sub-Zero, I'm daily tasked to trouble shoot. My sons are raised, and I have the time and the desire to trouble shoot for Monticello. I have made my home here and raised my family here. It's a great community with great people.

What issues do you find most important to the village board? List your top three priorities: With the pandemic, we encountered problems never seen before. Some of us differ on how to address these problems.

My 1st priority is getting the Village opened up again; with guidance from the CDC I think we can safely open the Village Hall.

2nd: Other communities had their pool opened last summer, with diligent sanitary practices, I think we can offer some summer fun for our children and adults alike.

3rd: With input from the Community Club, Lions and Lionesses, would like to explore having Homecoming this summer. It's a Monticello tradition that we all love and miss.

If you could reverse one village action, what would that be? In the past, the voters untrussed the Village board by providing additional funds to the budgets by a referendum. As always, there can be a difference of opinion on how those monies are spent. It's important for the village to have budgets and try to abide by them. Overspending leads to less funds for emergencies. We all have budgets at home. The Village needs to carefully watch their budgets also. All department heads will have to justify and have approved any budgets overages. This is a problem, I'd like to see it solved.

Any additional comments? I hope the voters of Monticello will entrust me the job of Village President. I will work with the board, dept. heads, community and citizens. Together we can safely come out of this pandemic and lead Monticello into the bright future.
