Barbara A. Kelley

Barbara Ann Kelley (nee Karlen), age 85 of Grafton, WI, died peacefully, Friday, March 2, 2018, at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend, WI, after a short illness. Barbara was born October 23, 1932, in Monroe, the daughter of Royal W. Karlen Sr. and Emma Elizabeth Rowan.

She graduated from Monticello High School in 1950. Barbara attended MacMurray College for Women for two years before attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1954. She worked at the Tucson Medical Center after graduation before returning to Wisconsin where she worked at Columbia Hospital, Milwaukee and St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington. She married David G. Kelley on January 27, 1962. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1985. Barbara enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling and all sports. She was an active member of the Wisconsin Go Hiking Club for many years.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Lesleigh) Kelley of Los Angeles, CA, Mary (Dan) Story of Fitchburg, Anne (Paul) Berndt of Germantown, Christopher (Robyn) Kelley of Brookfield, Patrick Kelley of Grafton; two grandchildren, Shauna Schultz of Fredonia and Andrew Berndt of Germantown; her sister, Madelyn Glaeden of Janesville; four nieces and nephews, Cynthia Glaeden-Knott (Michael) of Madison, Carrie Glaeden (Greg Mather) of Columbus, OH, David Walker and Wendy Elavsky Walker, both of Minneapolis, MN; grand-niece, Sasha Elavsky of Minneapolis; first cousins, Donna Karlen of Monticello, Richard (Anne) Dugdale, and Thomas (Pepper) Dugdale, all of Colorado.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents; her husband, David; her brother, Royal W. "Barney" Karlen Jr.; her twin sister, Betty Jane Karlen; and sister, Judith Walker; brothers-in-law, Charles Walker and Norman Glaeden; sisters-in-law Joan C. (nee Stevenson) Karlen and Joann (nee Peterson) Karlen; and a grand-niece, Natalie Lynn Beard; and other relatives and friends.

Interment was held Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Grafton. A memorial service will be held in early April.
