Darold Albertson

Darold C. Albertson, age 86, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison. He was born on October 26, 1931, the son of Clifford and Evelyn (Wild) Albertson.

Darold grew up on the home farm near Blanchardville and attended the Tyvand Grade School and New Glarus High School. Darold served in the US Army during the Korean War as a forward observer and was awarded the Bronze Star and Service Medal. He later drove semi for Klassy Trucking in Monticello and attended diesel and heavy equipment school in Chicago. Darold worked at Carnes in Verona for over 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed working with his grandson, Daylan, on his true passions Farmall tractors and going to tractor pulls.

Darold is survived by his two daughters, Jeryl (Mike) Kempfer and Jolene (Gary) Doerfer; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Eckhardt, Jennel, Brittany, Ashley (Evan) Larsen and Daylan; sisters, Carol Cooke and Chelle Calvert; brother, Darris; sister-in-law, Betty Albertson; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kendall and Gerry; and brothers-in-law, Frank Cooke and Tom Calvert.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, January 22, 2018, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus, WI, with the Rev. Gene Talley officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Old York Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Monday, January 22, 2018, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
